DILG: Only 108 of 496 Caloocan City resort guests traced

MANILA, Philippines — Only 108 of the 496 guests who flocked to a Caloocan City resort recently shuttered due to breach in COVID-19 protocols were traced, the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said Thursday.

Seventy two of the 108 guests underwent an antigen COVID-19 test, but DILG spokesperson Jonathan Malaya said they have yet to receive the test results.

“Mahirap nga po ang contact tracing sa sitwasyon na ito dahil marami pong kapabayaan ang management ng resort. In fact, hindi po kumpleto yung mga impormasyon na nakalagay doon sa kanilang logbook o kanilang guest stubs,” Malaya said in a televised briefing.

(Contact tracing is tough in this situation because of the resort management’s negligence. In fact, its logbook and guest stubs have incomplete data.)

Gubat sa Ciudad resort in Caloocan City has since been shuttered after allowing visitors, disregarding rules barring mass gatherings while Metro Manila is under modified emhanced commujity quarantine.

The chairman of Barangay 171 where the resort is located has been arrested for allowing the establishment to operate.

The police precinct commander in the area has been relieved from his post.
