The event brought together barangay chairpersons, councilors, Sangguniang Kabataan chairpersons, barangay executive officers, and administrative staff to commemorate their dedication to serving the Manila community.
“This is a thanksgiving party for the public servants in the barangays,” Isko explained during his speech. “It’s my way of thanking them. We made it a point to do this in the Christmas season, as it is about giving, love, and in this case, gratitude.”
Vice mayoral candidate Chi Atienza emphasized the significance of the event, saying, “It symbolizes what they can expect in time—that Yorme will really take care of the barangays, as they are part of inclusive governance here in Manila.”
Reflecting on the crucial role that barangay officials played during the pandemic, Isko recalled their invaluable support, particularly in efficiently delivering essential services like food boxes. “The city government needs the barangays to be efficient in serving the residents of Manila,” he stated.
Isko also wished good health to everyone, expressing that the party marks the beginning of his efforts to show appreciation across various barangays.
Sampaloc Sangguniang Kabataan member Sophia Reyes shared her sentiment, saying, “It feels so different when you know Isko is in charge; he’s very reassuring.”
