Parañaque City to distribute ECQ ‘ayuda’ in cash
MANILA, Philippines — Parañaque City will distribute cash aid to qualified individuals affected by the implementation of the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ), Mayor Edwin Olivarez said Monday.
Local government units (LGUs) in Metro Manila, Rizal, Bulacan, Cavite and Laguna can either distribute the aid worth P1,000, but not exceeding P4,000 per family, in cash or in-kind.
“Karamihan po sa amin, katulad po sa Parañaque, cash po ang ibibigay po namin, cash po ang ibibigay sa taumbayan,” Olivarez, who is also chair of the Metro Manila Council, said in an interview on Teleradyo.
(Many LGUs, including Parañaque, will distribute the aid in cash.)
“Itong Monday po ido-download yung pera dito sa bawat LGU, immediately po yan,” he added, when asked when the aid will be distributed.
(This Monday, the funds will be downloaded to the LGUs, and it will be distributed immediately.)
Some 22.9 million beneficiaries across the areas under ECQ are expected to receive aid from the government.
The ECQ implementation in the so-called NCR Plus bubblewas supposed to lapse on April 4, but was extended for another week or until April 11.
