A man accused of stealing several cars rolled up to court using a stolen vehicle and ended up arrested in New York.

Mark Cooper, a suspect in a series of car larceny cases in the Hampton Manor neighborhood, had a court appearance at Troy City Court yesterday morning, March 30, as per NBC affiliate WNYT on the same day.

Cooper, who was not immediately arrested, drove around Troy City after the appearance and was tracked by police through his ankle monitor, which he got due to an unrelated case.

The suspect first tried to flee, but was eventually arrested. Police also found out that Cooper had cut the ankle monitor off after fleeing police, the report said.

Cooper has since been arraigned and charged with third-degree grand larceny and was sent to the Rensselaer County Jail on no bail, as per ABC affiliate WTEN also yesterday.

In a similar case back in 2019, a man in Kansas got arrested after driving a stolen SUV to a police station, where he was supposed to post bail for his brother who was jailed for also stealing an SUV.

In a more recent case, last November, an accused thief also got arrested after going to court wearing the same shirt he wore when he committed the crime, which had been caught on CCTV. Ian Biong /ra
