Pasay City offers free COVID-19 vaccines to residents

MANILA, Philippines — Pasay City has offered its residents free COVID-19 vaccines once available in the country.

Pasay City Public Information Office on Tuesday said the city government has allotted P250 million for the purchase of COVID-19 vaccines.

Mayor Imelda Calixto-Rubiano said the city aims to inoculate approximately 275,000 persons.

Pasay City’s announcement came after several local government units such as Makati City and Manila City announced efforts to set aside funds and register residents who would receive a COVID-19 vaccine once it arrives in the country.

Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto has also said that around P300 million from the city’s 2021 budget has been allotted for the procurement and purchase of COVID-19 vaccines.

Meanwhile, the city council of Quezon City has given the local government the green light to purchase vaccines against COVID-19 for its constituents.

The city has allocated an initial P1 billion in its 2021 budget to purchase vaccines and supplies needed for the inoculation.
