Locals from Silvan, Victoria, in Australia did not think twice to save the life of a man after his car hit a tree and burst into flames.

The car accident happened on Parker Road around 6:30 p.m. on Christmas Day, as per 9News on Dec. 26. The man, who was not named in the report but believed to be in his 50s, apparently lost control of his car on a turn.

Donna, her mother-in-law Jen Harrold, and off-duty Victoria Police Detective Sergeant Steve Harris immediately ran to help the man, who had been trapped in his car.

Donna got the man into a bear hug and with the help of the other rescuers carried the man out of the burning car.

The man has since been brought to a hospital and is in a serious but stable condition, as per report. Donna has also received medical treatment after sustaining an arm injury from the rescue, as well as burns and scratches.

He’s lucky, I guess,” said Donna in the report. “You know, had it been down the road a little bit more, maybe no one would have got there in time.” Cody Cepeda/JB
