Murder raps filed vs cop who killed mother and son in Tarlac, says Año

MANILA, Philippines — Cases have been filed against Police Senior Master Sergeant Jonel Nuezca after undergoing inquest proceedings for two counts of murder for shooting to death a mother and her son in Paniqui town Tarlac province, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said Monday.

“Today po na-inquest na siya [Nuezca] sa Tarlac Provincial Prosecutor’s for two counts [of] murder. [On] the same day, finile ang kaso sa Regional Trial Court ng Branch 67 ng Paniqui, Tarlac. Siya po ay under [the] custody of Paniqui, Tarlac. Sisiguraduhin namin na hindi makakatakas at ma-serve ang justice,” Año said in a recorded briefing with President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday night.

(The police officer underwent inquest proceedings at Tarlac Provincial Prosecutor’s for two counts [of] murder. On the same day, the case was also filed at the Regional Trial Court Branch 67 of Paniqui, Tarlac. He is under the custody of Paniqui, Tarlac. We will make sure that he will not escape and that justice will be served.)
