Number of COVID-19 cases in Quezon province going down
LUCENA CITY –– The number of active coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Quezon province is going down, health authorities reported.
In its 5 p.m. bulletin on Monday, Dec. 14, the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) disclosed that the number of active virus carriers in the province has dropped to 572.
The highest tally of active COVID-19 cases in Quezon was recorded on Oct. 31 with 921 and fell to 760 at the end of November.
The same trend is also happening in Lucena City, the capital of the province, which now has only 100 remaining active virus carriers.
The highest recorded active cases in Lucena was 279 on Oct. 21 and dropped to 147 on Nov. 30
As of Monday, Quezon, which remains under the modified general community quarantine status, logged a total of 5,839 COVID-19 cases and 5,094 recoveries since the pandemic broke out in March.
Article continues after this advertisementThe total number of COVID-19 fatalities in the province has now reached 173 after two patients from Atimonan and Lopez towns were added to the mortality list on Monday.
Article continues after this advertisementAt least ten localities out of 41 towns in the province are now considered COVID-19-free. These are the island towns of Jomalig, Panukulan, and Alabat; and the mainland towns of San Andres, San Narciso, Pitogo, Macalelon, Padre Burgos, Agdangan, and San Francisco.
Those previously infected in these municipalities have either recovered or died, the report said.#
