Bohol town resident arrested after sexual assault on his ‘kumare’

TAGBILARAN CITY—A man is facing a case of attempted rape after allegedly sexually assaulting his close friend, or kumare, in Valencia town, Bohol province.

Police identified the suspect as Alex Taguines, 28, a resident of La Victoria village in Valencia.

SSgt Roy Lafranca, of the Valencia police, said Taguines broke into the victim’s house last Tuesday (Nov. 10) past 1 a.m.

The victim, 23, was sleeping with her two children. Her husband was working in the resort town of Panglao also in Bohol.

Taguines, who was believed to be intoxicated, allegedly touched the victim’s private part. When Taguines tried to pull down her shorts, the victim was roused from sleep and screamed for help.

Taguines fled.

The victim reported the assault to the village hall. After hours of operation, Taguines was arrested by village watchmen and turned over to police.
