Typhoon Quinta floods parts of Cavite, Laguna
SAN PEDRO CITY – Floodwaters inundated parts of Cavite and Laguna provinces as Typhoon Quita triggered moderate to heavy rains on Monday.
The Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas Rizal, Quezon) and Mimaropa (Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan) regional offices also reported that evacuations were carried out in high-risk areas.
In the Calabarzon region, at least 2,061 families (8,141 individuals) in 108 barangays were displaced.
Nearly knee-high floodwaters inundated portions of Bacoor City in Cavite, as well as Calamba City and Lumban in Laguna.
Toppled trees also blocked the Ternate-Nasugbu road in Barangay Sapang 1 in Cavite and the Mauban-Tayabas road in Quezon.
In the Mimaropa region, 762 families (2,964 individuals) sought shelter in evacuation sites.
More than 600 passengers, along with cargo and passenger vessels, were stranded in seaports in Quezon and Batangas, and another 642 in Mimaropa ports since Sunday evening.
