Qualified PhilHealth members need not pay for COVID-19 swab test
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) on Thursday warned hospitals and testing facilities that are allegedly claiming reimbursement for COVID-19 swab tests that had already been paid by its members.
PhilHealth explained that its benefit package for SARS-CoV-2 swab tests are intended for members who need to be tested under Department of Health guidelines and members meeting the requirements are entitled to full coverage without copayment in all accredited testing facilities nationwide.
“They should not be asked to pay for any fees that are already covered by the PhilHealth package,” the agency said, after Bagong Henerasyon party list Rep. Bernadette Herrera Dy claimed that some hospitals were claiming reimbursement for testing services that had already been paid.
