13 new COVID-19 patients in Negros Occidental are mostly returnees from Manila
BACOLOD CITY –– Cases of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Negros Occidental breached the 100-mark on Thursday with 13 more locally stranded individuals (LSIs) contracting the virus.
As of July 2, the province has 104 COVID-19 cases where 101 are overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and LSIs, the Department of Health said.
One of the new cases involved a 2-month-old male baby from Moises Padilla town.
The baby and his mother arrived in Negros Occidental on an AirAsia flight from Manila on June 21 and were quarantined at the EB Magalona Healing Center, said Charina Magallanes-Tan, Negros Occidental COVID-19 Incident Command Center spokesperson.
Of the 13 new COVID-19 cases, 11 came from Manila and two from Cebu.
Three of them are from Escalante City while there were two each from Himamaylan City, Sagay City and Cadiz City, and one each from the towns of Calatrava, Moises Padilla, Cauayan, and Hinoba-an.
The DOH also registered 51 cases in Bacolod City as of Thursday, 40 of whom are LSIs and OFWs.
