Phivolcs assures locals: Mt. Halcon not a volcano; will not erupt
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) reminded the public that Mt. Halcon in Oriental Mindoro is not a volcano and will not erupt.
Reports of an alleged eruption at Mt. Halcon, the highest peak in the Central Mindoro Ranges, are circulating around social media with photos of an illuminated cloud, presumably emanating from the peak.
We assure the public that Mt. Halcon is NOT A VOLCANO and will not erupt.

Phivolcs issued this reminder on Tuesday following “reports” circulating on social media claiming that the mountain has erupted.
“Reports of an alleged eruption at Mt. Halcon, the highest peak in the Central Mindoro Ranges, are circulating around social media with photos of an illuminated cloud, presumably emanating from the peak,” Phivolcs said in a tweet.
“We assure the public that Mt. Halcon is NOT A VOLCANO and will not erupt,” it added in its tweet.
