MANILA, Philippines — It’s no secret that tourism is one of the most severely affected sectors due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), not just in the Philippines, but also in the global scene.

In this interview, Department of Tourism Secretary Bernadette Romulo-Puyat and Undersecretary Arturo Boncato, Jr. discuss with INQUIRER.net reporter Neil Arwin Mercado the impact of the global health crisis on the country’s economy, and the government’s response to aid the ailing sector.

They also discuss what is the “new normal” in travel, hampered by the lingering threat of the virus.
