Cops widen probe into Taguig inmate’s death
MANILA, Philippines — Police officers are looking into other possible causes of death of an inmate in Taguig last March 28.
National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) director Major Gen. Debold Sinas on Tuesday said detainee Ramil Pagyos, 29, had died due to cardiac arrest, according to initial report.
Sinas said Pagyos was arrested after an alarm and scandal incident. He also posed as a member of the Philippine Army when arrested by responding policemen.
While under detention, Pagyos experienced difficulty in breathing and was transferred to Taguig Pateros District Hospital where he later died due to acute myocardial infarction or heart attack.
In a press conference in Kamuning police station, Sinas said they will pursue further investigation to check if there was foul play in Pagyos’ death.
“We could assure you investigation is going on to check kung ano talaga ang nangyari at kinukuhanan ng statement yung kasama niyang inmates, kung meron bang foul play o police brutality,” the NCRPO chief said.
