M’luyong bridge closure for Skyway works to affect 40,000 motorists
MANILA, Philippines — Around 40,000 vehicles will be affected by the month-long closure of Sevilla Bridge connecting Mandaluyong City and Manila City, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said Thursday.
MMDA General Manager Jojo Garcia said the bridge will be closed from March 14 at 10 p.m. to April 14 to give way for construction works of the Skyway Stage 3, an elevated expressway that will allow faster travel between Southern and Northern Metro Manila.
“The bridge, crossing San Juan River and connecting Shaw Boulevard in Burol, Mandaluyong City and P. Sanchez Street in Sta. Mesa, Manila, will be closed starting on March 14 (Saturday) at 10 pm. Total closure of Sevilla Bridge will last until April 14,” he said in a press conference at MMDA main office in Guadalupe, Makati City.
Garcia estimates that around 30,000 to 40,000 motorists will be affected by the one-month shutdown of the bridge.
To assist affected vehicles in the closure, the MMDA mapped out alternate routes:
