The six-year-old immediately jumped into action and alerted her dad and ex-chief firefighter, Jimmy, to the fire.
In a separate post, the department said that Madalyn’s mother and two-year-old brother also made it out of their home, thanks to her and Jimmy’s quick thinking. The flames had claimed most of the family’s belongings.
