PNP reiterates banned items’ list, to-dos for ‘Undas’

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday, Oct 31, reiterated its list of items that are banned in cemeteries:

  • Pointed or bladed metals or weapons (scissors, knives, bolos, etc.)
  • Firearms, explosives, and firecrackers
  • Illegal drugs
  • Portable cooking stoves or LPGs
  • Liquor and other intoxicating drinks
  • Loud speakers
  • Vending carts and food items for sale (for specific cemeteries only as imposed by local government units)

PNP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Bernard Banac also gave assurance that police had already put in place nationwide security measures to keep millions of people visiting loved ones’ graves safe whether they be at airports, seaports, bus terminals or cemeteries.

There’s no actionable intelligence report on threats to security, he said.

Banac also gave these tips to those going out of town or to their provinces for “Undas”:

  1. Plan your travel
  2. Prepare for heavy traffic and long lines at airports, seaports and bus terminals
  3. Don’t post travel itineraries on social media
  4. Lock windows, doors, gates of houses if leaving town
  5. Make sure security cameras are working
  6. Unplug appliances
  7. Check vehicles for road worthiness
