Of the 8,512 cases of typhoid fever reported nationwide from January to May 25 this year, 175 were from the National Capital Region. This was just 2 cases less than the 177 cases reported in the region during the same period in 2018. Northern Mindanao recorded the highest number of typhoid fever cases this year with 1,355 cases. —Marielle Medina, Inquirer Research
