Student slain in North Cotabato town

PIKIT, NORTH COTABATO –– A still unidentified gunman shot dead a student of the Cotabato Foundation College of Science and Technology (CFCST) while entering the school campus in Barangay Batulawan here at 8:20 a.m. Thursday.

Police Captain Mautin Pangandigan, officer-in-charge chief of Pikit police, said Rasul Saaban, 19, a resident of Barangay Talitay here, was on his way to school when the gunman approached and shot him several times, hitting different parts of his body.

The gunman fled towards Barangay Balatican aboard a motorbike.

Saaban was rushed to the Cruzado Medical Clinic here, where the attending physician pronounced him dead on arrival.

Esmael Moreno, director of the CFCST Pikit campus, said Saaban was a freshman taking up Bachelor of Science in Agriculture.

Pangandigan said police recovered from the crime scene five fired cartridges of a caliber .45 pistol./lzb
