MANILA, Philippines — The cause of the fire that engulfed popular amusement park Star City early Wednesday remains under investigation, the Pasay City Fire Station said.
Pasay City Fire Marshall Supt. Paul Pili told INQUIRER.net in a phone interview that the fire that swept through the amusement park was declared out at 2:02 p.m. on Wednesday.
Asked about reports that arson was behind the fire, Pili said this can be easily assumed by the public considering how large the fire was. However, he later clarified that authorities are still investigating the matter.
Meanwhile, Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) spokesperson Chief Inspector Jude Delos Reyes said in a separate interview that the fire started at the stockroom of the amusement park where light materials were also stored.
Aside from Star City, its sister company Manila Broadcasting Co. (MBC) which operates radio station DZRH was also hit by the blaze.
No casualties were reported in the fire. /muf
