BIR worker killed after being run over by bus in Isabela

GAMU, Isabela –– An employee of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) died after he was run over by an air-conditioned bus along the national road here on Thursday evening, police said.

Police Capt. Frances Littaua, Isabela police spokesperson, identified the victim as Mark Vincent Balisi, 32, a resident of Ilagan City and an employee of BIR-Naguilian District Office.

Investigators said Balisi was driving his motorcycle and brought it to a crashing halt on the slippery road in Barangay Guibang here at 11:35 p.m.

The Florida bus behind him failed to stop and ran over Balisi and his motorcycle.

Balisi died on the spot apparently due to internal hemorrhage, police said.

Bus driver Rodel Bumagat, 42, of Binarsang in Quirino, Isabela province, surrendered to police and is facing charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide./lzb
