Sleeping woman dies after tree falls on her house in QC

MANILA, Philippines — A woman died after a tree fell on her house at the height of a heavy downpour Friday morning in Barangay UP Campus, Quezon City.

According to an initial report from the Anonas police station, the 38-year-old victim, identified as Omayra Sumala, was sleeping inside her house when the tree suddenly fell straight on her residence at about 4:30 a.m.

Local authorities rushed the victim to the East Avenue Medical Center but she was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. /jpv
