Man shot dead while attending relative’s funeral in Manila

MANILA, Philippines — A man attending his relative’s funeral was shot dead Wednesday afternoon by two unidentified men aboard a motorcycle in Sampaloc, Manila.


The Sampaloc police station identified the victim as Joel Aquino, 31, a resident of the district.

Aquino went to pay respects to his deceased relative at a house located along Quezon Boulevard in Sampaloc when two unidentified men riding a black motorcycle suddenly appeared and shot him. The suspects then fled northbound of Quezon Boulevard. 


The victim was rushed to Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Hospital by his father, Rolando Aquino. But he was declared dead by 5 p.m.

According to the police, Aquino was included in Barangay 464’s drug watchlist.

 Homicide investigator Police Senior Master Sergeant Joseph Kabigting said they will conduct further investigation on this case to identify the suspects. /kga
