MANILA, Philippines —  A man who allegedly butchers dogs and engages in the illegal dog meat trade was arrested in Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija.

Agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested Danilo Gallardo on Thursday at his home, where he reportedly slaughters dogs and later sell the meat at Barangay Amihan, Cabanatuan.

Also present during the operation were members of the Animal Kingdom Foundation, an animal welfare group.

Confiscated from Gallardo’s house were six kitchen knives, a large pot, a kitchen ladle and a strainer.
