NGCP places Luzon grid on yellow alert due to very thin reserved power

/ 11:19 AM June 27, 2019

MANILA, Philippines — The whole Luzon grid was placed on yellow alert status since Thursday morning due to very low remaining power supply, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said.

The yellow alert, according to NGCP’s tweet, will last from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. on June 27, because the peak demand of power will crucially drain the remaining available capacity.

The grid’s available capacity was set at 11,288 megawatts, while peak demand is expected to be at 10,824 megawatts, leaving a significantly low reserve of 464 megawatts.
