NGCP places Luzon grid under yellow, red alerts on Friday

/ 09:26 AM June 21, 2019

MANILA, Philippines — The Luzon grid will be on the red alert status from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) said.

Meanwhile, the NGCP raised the yellow alert from 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on the country’s biggest power grid. These alerts mean there is insufficient power supply in the grid.

The Luzon grid’s available capacity is at 11,002 megawatts (MW), and at 11,191 MW during peak demand.

“Details on the cause to be announced by the Department of Energy (DOE) later in the day,” the NGCP said.  (Editor: Mike U. Frialde)
