LUCENA CITY – A birthday party turned into a tragedy after one of the visitors was stabbed dead by another guest in San Andres town in Quezon province shortly before midnight Sunday, police said.

The victim, Macky Porpora, and the suspect, Ritchie Casilla, were both guests at a drinking party being hosted by celebrant Elisteo Navarro in Barangay Camflora around 11 p.m., Police Major Elizabeth Capistrano, Quezon police public information officer, said in a report Monday.

Quoting Navarro, the report said the two guests stepped out of the drinking venue and once outside, Porpora suddenly punched Casilla.

Casilla immediately drew a bladed weapon and stabbed Porpora on his chest.

Porpora died while being taken to San Andres Municipal Health Center.

Report did not explain what triggered the quarrel between the two guests.

Casilla voluntarily surrendered to the authorities and was detained at the local police jail. (Editor: Julie Espinosa)
