MANILA, Philippines—Two men died and one was left injured when a bomb went off  in Datu Udin Sinsuat in Maguindanao, where Governor Ismael Mangudadatu was attending a town event, police said Thursday.

Superintendent Marcelo Pintac, Maguindanao police director, said the blast happened at Barangay Dalican at 10:45 a.m. as Datu Udin Sinsuat town was celebrating its founding anniversary.

Asked if Mangundadatu could be the target of the attack, Pintac only said that the governor was “800 meters away from the blast site.”
