Aquino dares Corona to show statement of assets and liabilities

MANILA, Philippines—President Benigno Aquino  dared Chief Justice Renato Corona on Thursday to reveal his statements of assets, liabilities and net worth if it is true as he claimed in a speech lambasting the President on Wednesday that he has religiously been filing such statements.

“There’s one notable thing. From what I understand, he said that he files his SALN every year. Now, it was easy yesterday when he was speaking to show a copy of his SALN. But didn’t you notice he didn’t do so?” Aquino told reporters in Malacañang.

Aquino fielded questions about his reaction to Corona’s speech on Wednesday. Corona hit back at Aquino after the administration allies in the House of Representatives impeached the Chief Justice early this week.

“Perhaps by next week it would be revealed, but yesterday, when he said he filed [his SALN], isn’t the simplest statement, `This was what I filed, isn’t it clear?’ But he didn’t do it. Why?” the President said.
