Tuguegarao doctor found dead inside home

TUGUEGARAO CITY — A 72-year-old optometrist and former city councilor was found dead inside his house here on Thursday, police said.

Dr. Manuel Fermin, a resident of Barangay Caritan Sur, sustained gunshot wounds on his head and body, said Col. Ignacio Cumigad Jr., Cagayan provincial police director.

Investigators were looking into a robbery-slay as the victim’s house was in a mess and some of his valuables have been missing. Fermin’s driver said he found the victim’s bloodied body on a rocking chair. /ee
