MMDA backs proposal to postpone closure of Tandang Sora flyover, intersection
MANILA, Philippines — Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) General Manager Jojo Garcia agreed on Wednesday with the recommendation of the Quezon City council to postpone the closure of the Tandang Sora flyover and intersection.
Quezon City Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte proposed to suspend the closure of the flyover and intersection for one week to give more time to discuss traffic plans.
Garcia supported the proposal, saying he will raise it to the Department of Transportation.
“Definitely, I agree with them. We will have to prepare on this one,” Garcia said in an interview at the sidelines of a public hearing on the impending closure of the flyover and intersection.
“Maganda nagkita kami ni Mayor Joy mismo to fix yung mga alternate routes natin kasi we need to clear all roads to maximize yung mga streets natin para kung mag alternate route man yung ating mga kababayan, madaming pwedeng daanan (It’s good that I’ve met Mayor Joy and discuss with her the need to fix the alternate routes because we need to clear all roads to ensure that motorists would have many options to chose from),” he explained.
“So I agree with them, I will recommend them,” he added
