MANILA, Philippines — Chinese national Jiale Zhang is facing complaints of direct assault, disobedience to a person in authority, and unjust vexation for throwing taho, a soybean curd drink, at a police officer who stopped her from entering a Metro Rail Transit 3 station because she was carrying food.
MRT 3 has been implementing a ban on food and drinks inside the train and the station for security.

After the incident, Director Guillermo Eleazar, chief of the National Capital Region Police Office, himself went to talk to the detained Chinese woman, a first year fashion design student.
Eleazar told Jiale that PO1 William Cristobal, the officer who stopped her from entering the Boni Station of MRT-3 in Mandaluyong, was only implementing the policies of the train management.
“They are just implementing policies for your protection to prevent incidents like bombing. These were explained to you by the police and the security guards,” Eleazar said.
Jiale will undergo inquest proceedings at the Mandaluyong City Prosecutor’s Office.
Disobedience and assaulting a police officer are bailable offenses.
The Department of Transportation is looking at the possibility of banning Jiale from riding MRT-3 line. /atm
