2 ‘contract killers’ under Parojinog crime group dead in Zamboanga Sur shootout
PAGADIAN CITY – Two Parojinog crime syndicate-affiliated contract killers were dead in a shootout Monday afternoon along the National Highway, Barangay Culo, Molave, Zamboanga Del Sur.
Chief Inspector June Lawingan, Molave police chief, identified the two as Melvin Louie Bongabong alias Bobong and Ernesto Briones.
Lawingan said combined police operatives conducted a stop-and-frisk operation along the national highway after receiving a report that the two suspects were in the area. But the two drew their firearms when they came face to face with the police, resulting in a shootout.
The police recovered two .38-caliber revolvers with several rounds of ammunition and identification cards.
Police said Bongabong and Briones were affiliated with the Parojinog crime syndicate, particularly with a certain ‘Quiapo,’ Ozamiz city’s high-value target who had been heavily linked to the robbery, carnapping, illegal drugs and contract killing in the area. Leah Agonoy /lzb
