American found dead inside isolation room of BI detention facility

MANILA, Philippines – An American national was found dead on Thursday morning inside an isolation room of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) Detention Center inside Camp Bagong Diwa, Tagug City.

A report released by the Taguig City Police on Saturday, said 55-year-old William Mark St Cyr was found dead at about 7:35 a.m.

Police said Loreto Abacia, a food server of the facility was about to serve St. Cyr his breakfast at about 7:15 a.m. when he found the American naked and kneeling face down on his bed.

Police said Abacia did not mins St. Cyr and left the isolation room to continue serving the other detainees their breakfasts.

At about 7:35 a.m., after serving the other detainees, Abacia informed security guard Mario Paelan about St. Cyr.

Paellan then went to St. Cyr’s room and confirmed that the American was already dead. Paelan then informed the detention center warden.

The Taguig Police is still conducting its investigation.  /muf
