2  hurt in Zamboanga shooting incident despite gun ban

ZAMBOANGA CITY — Despite the implementation of the gun ban for the midterm polls in May, two persons were critically wounded in a shooting incident on Monday afternoon here.

Senior Inspector Shellamae Chang, spokesperson of the Zamboanga City Police Office, identified the two victims as Romeo Muhay, 61; Joshua Gonzales, 31; a driver of a known lawyer here.

Chang said the incident took place along Governor Alvarez Street, which is near the Universidad de Zamboanga.

The suspect behind the shooting was identified as Jeffrey Sali, but police have yet to establish the motive.

Chang said this is the first shooting incident recorded since the Comelec started implementing the gun ban on January 12. /ee
