Daraga Mayor surrenders firearms to police

MANILA, Philippines – Mayor Carlwyn Baldo of Daraga, Albay has surrendered three of his four firearms to the police, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Director General Oscar Albayalde said on Friday.

Albayalde said in a press conference that Baldo surrendered his 12 gauge shotgun and two .45 caliber pistols to the Albay Provincial Police Office.

He said Baldo failed to surrender his Elisco 5.56 rifle, which the mayor claimed was lost.

Albayalde ordered on Thursday the cancellation of Baldo’s gun permits after he was tagged as the alleged mastermind in the killing of Rep. Rodel Batocabe and his police escort SPO2 Orlando Diaz. Batocabe was gunning for the mayoral post in Daraga.
