Gatchalian hails PNP for gunrunners’ arrest
MANILA, Philippines — Senator Sherwin Gatchalian on Tuesday praised the Philippine National Police (PNP) after arresting two big-time gunrunners allegedly providing firearms and ammunition to rebel groups.
“I commend the PNP for uncovering this shocking modus,” the senator said.
Last Sunday, the PNP nabbed Edgrado and Rosemarie Medel for allegedly supplying firearms to terrorist groups Maute, the Abu Sayyaf, and politicians.
The suspects were arrested after police caught them accepting P1.2 million marked money from two undercover agents who posed as buyers of firearms and ammunitions.
