After forging an alliance with former president Joseph Estrada-led Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP) party, the political party of Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio on Monday officially sealed an alliance with People’s Reform Party (PRP) of the late senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago.
Duterte-Carpio said Hugpong ng Pagbabago’s (HNP) alliance with PRP would help the senatorial candidates supporting the administration of her father, President Rodrigo Duterte, in the coming 2019 midterm elections.
“Ang intent ng Hugpong ng Pagbabago with alliances is to make friends with everybody around the country and request our friends to support a common senatorial line up for the 2019 senatorial elections,” Duterte-Carpio said.
“Hopefully, if these candidates win… they will in turn help the President for the remaining three years of his term until 2022,” she added.
HNP is endorsing 14 senatorial candidates for the 2019 polls, namely: Senators Cynthia Villar, Koko Pimentel and Sonny Angara; former senators Jinggoy Estrada, J.V Ejercito, Bong Revilla and Pia Cayetano; Maguindanao Rep. Zajid Mangudadatu, Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos, former Bureau of Corrections chief Ronald dela Rosa, former presidential aide Bong Go, former Presidential spokesperson Harry Roque, former Presidential adviser Francis Tolentino and journalist Jiggy Manicad.
HNP had formed alliance last August with three other national parties: Villar’s Nacionalista Party (NP), the National People’s Coalition (NPC), and National Unity Party (NUP).
That same month, Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos’s Ilocano Timpuyog also joined HNP.

The signing of the alliance also coincided on the day of the conferment of the Quezon City Cross, the highest civil service award in the country, to the late senator.
