Duterte: Gov’t ‘quietly’ probing Navy deals of Trillanes’ parents

President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday revealed of government’s ongoing investigation into the alleged Philippine Navy deals of the parents of his fiercest critic, Senator Antonio Trillanes IV.
Duterte earlier accused Trillanes’ mother of being a supplier for the Navy, which the President claimed was a clear case of conflict of interest due to the senator’s status before as a Navy officer.
“We are looking into the paper. We’re investigating quietly ‘yung mga deals sa panahon ng tatay pati nanay niya,” Duterte said in a speech in Davao City.
“You can be very sure na lalabas lahat ‘yan,” he then warned.
Trillanes had denied Duterte’s allegations, noting that the President only mentioned his parents since he “cannot throw anything else” against him. The opposition senator also lamented how his 84-year-old mother, who has been suffering from Parkinson’s disease, was even dragged by Duterte into their political issues.

In September, Duterte said during a one-on-one interview with Presidential Spokesperson Salvador Panelo that Trillanes’ parents had “transactions” with the Philippine Navy.
Duterte, however, did not expound on his statement.
“Kayong mga sundalo bilib kayo kay Trillanes. Ang tatay niyan nasa serbisyo pa, siya nasa serbisyo… ang transaksyon ang karamihang supply sa Navy, ang nanay niya,” he said.
Duterte issued a proclamation earlier declaring Trillanes’ amnesty void ab initio or void from the beginning, and ordered for the senator’s arrest. /kga
