Pasay prosecutor summons Trillanes to sedition case preliminary probe

The Pasay City Prosecutor’s Office has summoned Senator Antonio Trillanes IV to appear at the preliminary investigation on the inciting to sedition and proposal to commit coup d’ etat case filed by Labor Undersecretary Jacinto “Jing” Paras and Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) Commissioner Manuelito Luna.
Trillanes is required to appear on Oct. 18 before Pasay City Prosecutor Reynaldo Ticyado.
“This will be for clarificatory hearing and we will be asked to affirm our complaint,” Luna said over the phone.
This is the second inciting to sedition case filed against Trillanes before the Pasay court. The first case is already with the Metropolitan Trial Court. Luna said the senator is up for arraignment since the Department of Justice (DOJ) has not acted on Trillanes’ petition for review.

This complaint set for preliminary investigation was filed last September that cited Trillanes’ statement about the supposed dissent of some members of the Armed Forces over the revocation of amnesty given to him and other Magdalo soldiers by then President Benigno Aquino III.
The senator earlier said that the military was “extremely bothered” that their ranks were already being politicized.

Luna said Trillanes’ statement could incite a call to oust President Duterte, saying it was “irresponsible” on the part of the senator.
Aside from the two inciting to sedition cases, the senator is also facing a libel suit filed by Presidential Paolo Duterte.

The senator is currently out on bail after he paid P200,000 before the Makati City Regional Trial Court Branch 150, which ordered his arrest on charges of rebellion for the 2007 Manila Peninsula siege.
