PNP chief OKs recommendation to revoke Quiboloy’s firearm licenses

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police chief, Gen. Rommel Marbil, has approved the recommendation of the PNP’s  Firearms and Explosives Office (FEO) to revoke the license to own and possess firearms (LTOPF) of fugitive televangelist Apollo Quiboloy.

PNP spokesperson Col. Jean Fajardo confirmed via Viber Marbil’s approval of the FEO’s recommendation.

She did not provide any other details as of posting time.

Last April 23, the FEO forwarded to Marbil’s office its recommendation to cancel or revoke the LTOPF of “Miss Canada” and Quiboloy, who has existing arrest warrants on charges of child abuse, sexual assault, trafficking, exploitation, and discrimination.

“This is in the premise of their violation of section 26 of [Implementing Rules and Regulations of the] Republic Act 10591 [the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act],” the chief of the PNP FEO Public Information Office Maj, Lady Lou Gondales, told INQUIRER.net. earlier.

Quiboloy has three co-accused surnamed Canada: Cresente, Paulene, and Ingrid.

But when asked who among them was included in the recommendation, Gondales replied, “It was not specified.”

FEO’s recommendation was released a day after Sen. Risa Hontiveros called on Marbil to “lead better,” saying that the police may now confiscate Quiboloy’s guns based on his pending cases under the implementing rules and regulations of the PNP.

Last April 3, the Davao Regional Trial Court issued arrest orders against Quiboloy and his subordinates, the Canadas, Sylvia Camanes, and Jackiely Roy.

They were charged with violating the Anti-Child Abuse Law (Republic Act No. 7610), specifically the provision on sexual abuse of minors and maltreatment.

On April 11, a Pasig City court also issued a warrant for the arrest of the self-proclaimed “appointed son of God” for qualified human trafficking, a non-bailable offense.
