Cops track down Taguig garage for stolen vehicles
A warehouse that served as a garage of carnapped vehicles was pinned down yesterday in Taguig City after one of the stolen trucks kept there had a tracking device that gave away the location to the police.
A 10-wheeler truck was found in Anlud Metal Recycling Corp. on Daang Manunuso St., Barangay (village) Tipas, Taguig City, along with three other trucks, a shuttle bus, a motor engine and 100 cement bags.
Samuel Orendain, 49, of Barangay San Dionisio, Parañaque City, reported that his truck was robbed by four armed men early Thursday morning along Batina, Calamba, Laguna.
He then informed the police of the whereabouts of its 10-wheeler delivery truck based on the global positioning system (GPS) tracker that allowed Calamba Police District to secure a search warrant from Judge Amor Reyes of Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 21.
“The suspects must have chosen this as their hiding place because there are a lot of warehouses here. If you see the area, it won’t pose suspicions if trucks come in and out,” said Taguig City Police Chief Tomas Apolinario.
The Calamba, Taguig, and Southern Police Districts as well as the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group and Criminal Investigation and Detection Group conducted the joint operation 7:30 p.m. Friday and cordoned off the area until Saturday morning.
Apolinario said the the warehouse owner and suspect’s identification is still being verified as of presstime. The trucks and other evidence have been moved to Bulacan while investigation is ongoing.
