STUDENT ROBBED IN MANDAUE

A FEMALE college student was robbed at gunpoint while she was walking home in barangay Umapad, Mandaue City, on Wednesday night.

Regie Senining, 20, of Cebu Technological University (CTU), lost her mobile phone , a scientific calculator and other school equipment.

The woman was headed home past 10 p.m. when two men on a motorcycle stopped near her.

MANDAUE EXEC’S DAUGHTER FALLS PREY TO THIEVES

A DAUGHTER of a city councilor in Mandaue lost her money to thieves last Thursday afternoon.

Shiena Kaye Dabon, 22, daughter of Mandaue City Councilor Elstone Dabon, told police that she lost P2,000 to three men who could be members of “salisi gang.”

Shiena and her boyfriend went to a store in barangay Centro to buy some Christmas decor.

They were about to go home when Shiena decided to return to the store to buy another item. On her way into the store, she was bumped by two men who seemed to be rushing.

Moments later, Shiena discovered that the P2,000 cash in her bag was missing.

She reported the theft to the Centro police station.

4 PERSONS WITH SHABU ARRESTED

A FATHER and his son and two other other persons were arrested for alleged possession o f shabu in barangay Pitalo, San Fernando town, southern Cebu.

Police said Isabelo Alforque, 52; his 21-year-old son Jeffrey; Jocelyn Dela Pierre, 22; and Mahan Avenido, 18, were caught in the act of dividing packs of suspected shabu in a dark area in sitio Lacaron at 12:45 a.m.

PO1 Lauro Laurel of the San Fernando police said the four persons ran off when they noticed the arriving policemen.

Police, however, cornered the four persons and seized four packs of suspected drugs.

PO1 Laurel said police rushed to the area after learning from informants that an illegal drug transaction was going o n.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 were filed in court against the arrested persons yesterday.  CORRESPONDENT RHEA RUTH V. ROSELL

HABAL DRIVER, BOY NABBED FOR DRUGS

POLICE arrested a habal-habal (motorcycle for hire) driver and a 15-year-old boy after they were caught carrying shabu in barangay Canhabagat, Medellin town, northern Cebu, last Thursday night.

Police said two packs of suspected shabu were recovered from Ariel Dignos, 28.

Police conducting operation against illegal drugs flagged down a motorcycle driven by Dignos.

Police frisked Dignos and found the suspected drugs inside the pocket of his short pants.
