11 frat members nabbed after initiation rites

Police arrested ll members of the Tau Gamma Phi fraternity, including two minors, who were having a drinking spree in barangay Camputhaw, Cebu City

Two members, including a 17-year-old, had bruises on their legs.

They admitted they had just come from initiation rites in barangay Sambag.

By 4 p.m. the group was released from the Fuente police station because the wounded frat members refused to file a complaint or attest that they were victims of hazing.

Released from police custody were Jessa Labrador, 19; Cristopher Anmontado, 21; Gabriel Panasal, 23; John Nicole Cabido, 21; Rodney Sinadjan; Rey Anthony Somitter 25; Charlie Alonte, 20; John Alonte, 21; and Cerilo Chardido, 20.

Two other members were aged 17 and 16.

When police rounded them up, Joe Pernites, 20, of barangay Sambag Dos, and a 17-year old resident of barangay Mambaling were found to have leg contusions.

One of them fainted inside the Fuente police precinct.

Before the arrest, police received a phone call from neighbors complaining about the noise of a group of men at a drinking session in sitio purok 3.PO3 Achilles Sanchez Jr. said

When police went to the area, no actual hazing was going on. The initiation took place earlier in in barangay Sambag Dos before they went to Kamputhaw. CORRESPONDENT CHITO O. ARAGON
