CEBU CITY, Philippines?A couple was killed on Saturday by a neighbor on whose backyard the victims? garbage was reportedly thrown.
Senior Police Officer 2 Rolito Jumao-as, homicide investigator of the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office, identified the fatalities as Lyndon Son, 45, and wife Maria Melinda, 44, both of the village of Mactan, Lapu-Lapu City.
The suspect, fisherman Isaac Peñalosa Orandain, 39, allegedly had a heated argument with the Son couple on Friday night over the garbage scattered in his backyard, waited for Lyndon early on Saturday, and shot the latter in the chest as he was leaving his house for work at around 5:30 a.m., Jumao-as said.
Maria Meinda, who rushed out of their house when she heard the gunfire, was shot as well, Jumao-as said.
Maria Melinda, who was hit in the chest, was declared dead on arrival at the Mactan Doctors Hospital. Lyndon died two hours later at around 7:30 a.m. in the same hospital.
Jumao-as said investigators could not find any empty shell at the crime scene, leading them to believe that Orandain used a revolver.
Orandain is now being hunted by the police, said Jumao-as.
