MWSS to give warning to households with excessive water consumption

MANILA, Philippines — Due to the ongoing El Niño phenomenon, excessive water consumers will be given a warning by the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS).

When asked about how the government was conserving water amid the prolonged dry season, MWSS Department Manager Patrick Dizon said that they are monitoring the monthly consumption of households.

“Kung malaki po iyong itinaas po ng kanilang konsumo ay atin pong iimbestigahan po ito. At kung napatunayan po na wala naman pong leak sa kanilang kabahayan ay wa-warning-an po natin sila at tutulungan po natin at tuturuan po natin kung paano po makatipid ng paggamit po ng tubig,” said Dizon.

(If there is a large increase in consumption, we will investigate it and if we prove that there is no leak in their house, we will give them a warning and we will help them how to save water.)

Furthermore, Dizon also said that they will also monitor if consumption is lower than average.

Dizon then assured the public that there is enough water supply; however, there will still be government efforts to conserve water amid the dry season.
