MANILA, Philippines--Several streets in Makati City will be closed to vehicles as part of a traffic rerouting plan for Nov. 1 and 2.

The Makati Department of Public Safety (DPS) said that to ease traffic, no vehicles would be allowed to use the streets near the Manila South Cemetery, Makati Public Cemetery and Makati Catholic Cemetery.

To be closed to traffic are Vito Cruz Extension (from Zapote Street to South Avenue), Kalayaan Avenue (from Zapote to N. Garcia) South Avenue (from J. P. Rizal to Metropolitan Avenue), Pililia Street (from J. P. Rizal to Kalayaan Avenue), J. B. Roxas (from J.P. Rizal to Kalayaan Avenue), Kakarong Street (from J. P. Rizal to Metropolitan Avenue), Montojo and Yague Streets (from Zapote to South Avenue) and Panama and Suez Streets (from South Avenue to Zapote Street).

Tents which will serve as medical assistance and information centers will be set up at Makati Catholic Cemetery on Kalayaan Avenue to avoid congestion at the entrance.

The DPS said the following roads will be closed starting at 6 a.m. on Oct. 31: South Avenue, from J. P. Rizal Avenue to Metropolitan Avenue, Kalayaan Avenue (from Zapote to South Avenue), and Vito Cruz Extension from Zapote to South Avenue.

Nicanor Garcia Street, meanwhile, will be open to one-way traffic from Jupiter/Metropolitan Avenue to Kalayaan Avenue. Motorists may then turn right on Kalayaan going to Makati Avenue.

J.P. Rizal will be turned into a two-way street from Makati Avenue to Pasong Tirad. In case of congestion, westbound vehicles will be directed to turn right on Trabajo, then left on Hipodromo toward A. P. Reyes Avenue.

One-side parking will be allowed on Kalayaan from N. Garcia to Salamanca; N. Garcia from Kalayaan to Metropolitan; Ayala Extension from Malugay to the driveway near Toyota Bel-Air; Metropolitan from South Avenue to N. Garcia; Metropolitan from South Avenue Extension to Pasong Tamo; Bagtican from Kamagong to Guijo Street; and the inner streets of Barangays Valenzuela, Sta. Cruz and Olympia.

All motorists are advised to take the following alternate routes: Coming from Ayala Ave. Ext. going to J. P. Rizal via South Avenue, turn left on Metropolitan and right on Zapote or Pasong Tamo toward destination.

From Jupiter going to Pasong Tamo via Metropolitan: Turn left on N. Garcia, right on Buendia, right on Ayala Avenue Extension, left on Metropolitan, toward destination. From Jupiter to J. P. Rizal via N. Garcia: Turn right on Kalayaan, left on Makati Avenue and left on J. P. Rizal.
