LUCENA CITY, Quezon, Philippines—A 59-year-old British national was hospitalized when he was beaten up by the son of his live-in partner Wednesday evening, a police report said Thursday.
Police identified the victim as one William Park, a retired British military officer and residing at RJ-Ville Subdivision in the outskirts of the city.
Report said the victim and his live-in partner, Nenita Lambit, were walking home around 6:30 p.m. when the latter’s son, Gerald, 29, confronted Park.
Police said the two men argued over change from money Park had earlier given Gerald to buy food, which the latter failed to remit.
Feeling insulted, Gerald beat up his mother’s lover, resulting in serious physical injuries, then escaped after the assault.
Neighbors who were at the scene rushed the victim to the nearest hospital for treatment.
Park, according to the police, was reluctant to file charges against Gerald.
