KORONADAL CITY—Government troops captured an alleged terrorist bomber in Sultan Kudarat on Wednesday, a military official said.
The suspect, Dali Pamanay, did not resist arrest when troops cordoned off his hideout in the village of Saliao in Esperanza, Sultan Kudarat, said Colonel Marlou Salazar, commander of the 601st Brigade.
A .45 caliber pistol was recovered from the suspect's possession.
"Pamanay is wanted for two counts of multiple frustrated murder and multiple attempted murders," Salazar said.
Salazar said the suspect worked under Islamic militant Basit Usman, a bomb expert linked to the regional Jemaah Islamiyah terror group.
Usman is on Washington's list of terrorists and carries a bounty of $50,000.
Salazar said Usman is a member of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Special Operation Group but the rebel group has disowned him.
The government has suspended peace talks with the MILF and ordered a massive assault after two rebel commanders launched a string of deadly attacks in Mindanao.
